3D Bla Station QVARTO stool

This stool made by the genius Niko Kralj is just one in a long line of such sophisticated and ingeniously designed products. Conceived way back in 1954, the stool remains a concept of elegance. It is distinguished by clean lines and a minimalistic appearance, which, however, does not mean that it is visually boring, but quite the opposite. Due to its cross type construction, which in a unique way connects the remaining elements of the stool, it appears that the upper part of the stool floats effortlessly above the legs. Perfectly connected wood from a technical point of view, aided with the help of only one screw, lends itself to creating a stable and comfortable stool.

Lilla Åland is a real stalwart in the Stolab range and a favourite that has represented excellent Swedish 20th century design on many occasions. Carl Malmsten was inspired by a visit to the Finnström Church on Åland, which contained a number of stick-back chairs lined up. He drew them and after a few of his own adjustments and additions, typical of his own particular style, serial production could commence. Each back pin is grooved at both ends, providing a larger attachment area for the glue, thus increasing durability. When Jonas Lindvall created Harrow it was in homage to the tradition of craftsmanship and thus to Stolab. Harrow has a broad backrest made of conical sections that become narrower towards the back legs. This gives Harrow a finished and neat appearance. The covered seat has moulded padding for comfortable sitting. One unique detail in Harrow is the vertical direction of the chair’s wood fibres. Carl Malmsten did not design Lilla Åland just as a chair and armchair. In 1941 he also designed a rocking chair with largely the same components as the armchair. Now Stolab is relaunching this rocking chair, which was produced on the basis of new drawings, in turn based on Carl Malmsten’s original drawings, made by Leif Burman. The rocking chair is stable, neat and easy to place and several can be favourably used at a table together. Centre pivots in runners and seat provide increased durability. Each backpin is grooved at both ends, providing a larger surface for the glue to stick and thus greater durability. The backpins taper off upwards, forming a strong, sprung and comfortable backrest. Developing a chair is one of the hardest tasks a furniture designer can face, not only because of the need for excellent seating comfort but also because of the fact that the chair must be able to fit in many different environments, feel unique and be able to stand out while still feeling like a permanent fitting. It was not easy, and it required a total of 32 sketches and four prototypes to find its way into production. CJ3 offers excellent comfort in a variety of seating positions. You can sit "straight ahead," and the chair provides excellent lumbar support. It is designed to provide support and comfort while sitting at other angles as well. The dorsal angle is designed so that your neck will always feel comfortable and relaxed. The horsehair padding and flax gives firmness in the seat and back that enables you to sit for a long period of time in the armchair. Sandö Armchair XL is a slightly wider version of Sandö Armchair.The basic idea behind Sandö XL was to create a chair with simple, harmonious and self-evident shapes, constructed in accordance with furniture-making criteria. A chair that is resilient and well-proportioned without being fussy, thus making it suitable for a number of environments. An armchair that is comfortable to sit on and attractive to look at. Sandö has distinct lines, but still feels smooth to the touch as all edges are rounded in a special way. This rounding also contributes to light falling around the contours of the chair, thus showing it to full advantage. Corner blocks in the seat and fixed, grooved pins in the legs and back make Sandö XL a stable and durable chair. Upholstered seat with nailed or removable upholstery. Calico or rubberised fabric. Mono Low is a small coffee table/side table in spun metal with a reversible glass tabletop foiled on both sides so that you can easily change the look of the table. There is room for storage inside the table underneath the glass top. Metal-spinning techniques are commonly used for manufacturing lampshades, but they do have limitations with regard to the weight of the material to be processed. With Mono tables, however, we have extended the boundaries of what it is now possible to produce in this way. Mia Cullin’s inspiration for Mono was the form and function of various everyday receptacles such as vases, dishes, bowls, cylinders and pots.

Hippo chair in lacquered wood combines a traditional Swedish look with a generous portion of light-hearted modernity. Hippo is ideal as a café chair or in a restaurant. The shape evokes something of both the graceful poise of a ballerina and the strength and stability of a hippopotamus. Hippo’s journey began when Mia Gammelgaard asked if we wanted to produce her contribution to the Danish Cabinetmakers’ Autumn Exhibition, “White-Out”. “Of course!” we said and embarked on the project without a moment’s delay. We knew it had to be a wooden chair but, apart from that, nothing was yet decided. After many long hours of product development Hippo appeared in public for the first time on 29 October 2010 in Copenhagen.

Gate is a linkable bench system for public areas. Benches available in two straight (GS) and two curved (GR) basic units. Use the Gate basic units to form rows that are straight, curved or at right angles to suit their setting. These can be fitted with backrests, and/or seats as required. Use our design tool to configure your own Gate! Standard spacing gives a centre-to-centre seat space of 600 mm, but this spacing may be varied to accommodate more or fewer seats as desired.
